A hapless world

The stars do not remember

What they had foretold earlier,

We need to go deep into the night,

To find the stars of yesteryears,

Closer to the big bang, perhaps.

Some stars have died since,

Some new stars have birthed since.

No star is taking responsibility

Of some of the untruths told earlier,

Of a hapless world,

Of a doomed world.

Will Power

I received this Saturday gyan today:

That's profound, I reflected. If your rich aunt, in her Will, bequeaths all  to you, it can really change your life. That's Will Power for you.

Selfie is a lot like the mirror

A selfie is a lot like the mirror.

It tells me that me I'm right,

When I am left.

It tells me that I'm the foreground,

The background is less significant.

Like the mirror,

It is a bit of a vanity parade.

But unlike the mirror,

The decision to click the selfie,

Is mine, and mine alone.

Taking back the world.

God mistook our complaint for prayer,

And gave us the world.

Having given the world,

He didn't mistake our complaint for gratitude,

And has been slowly

Taking back our world.

No ripples in their hearts

A tsunami first ebbs away

Before it crashes with force

On the shores.

In the deep seas though,

The creatures know not the force:

It's business as usual.

Love is a bit like the tsunami:

Ebbs away and then crashes

With full force.

The loved ones though,

Often have no disquiet

In their deeps,

No ripples in their hearts.

Disproving Newton's Third

Friday gyan is always edifying. Thank God it's Friday. I received the following gyan today:

This gyan by implication also disproves Newton's Third.

Those that wanted your Midas touch

Where has Your gossamer touch gone?

Is Your love still unborn?

They now cry for Your gossamer touch,

Those that wanted your Midas touch.

need of capital letters in english

Friends: Have you ever thought about the need of capital letters in the English language? Indian languages do not have such a concept. Do we really need capital letters in the English language?

Imagine if I had written the above lines as below:

friends: have you ever thought about the need of captial letters in the english language? indian languages do not have such a concept. do we really need capital letters in the english language?

Would you have any difficulty in understanding these lines? another way to say this is, 'would you have any difficulty in understanding these lines?'

i think not.

we are unnecessarily burdening ourselves with learning needless 26 letters.

in fact, i once had thought that the capital letters could be used thus:

FriendsHaveYouEverThoughtAboutTheNeedOfCapitalLettersInEnglish?

we separate each word with capital letters, resulting in massive saving of printing as well as digital space. in java language, name of functions are often written in a similar way. we could, of course, refine this way of writing by inserting punctuation marks and space after sentences.

WeCouldOfCourseRefineThisWayOfWritingByInsertingPunctuationMarksAndSpaceAfterSentences. WhatDoYouThink?

what do you think?

I dream big

Dreams came looking for her,

But she still hadn't fallen asleep.

The dreams then implored:

We just need your forty winks.

And she then said to them:

Urmila's nights of fourteen years

Of peaceful sleep I need.

'Dear dreams', she said to them,

'I dream big, you see,

I dream of love, you see.'

All days are Mothers' Day

When you are lonely,

When you are down,

Know that

I am here in town.

So many sorrows

Of so many hues,

It's not easy

To wear your shoes.

Keep your door open,

And I will come,

I'll bring cheere bhaajaa* too,

When life is a bit troublesome.

All days are Mothers' day.

*cheere bhaajaa: beaten rice pan fried in sugar

Time traveller

I don't know these Yellow pages,

I can't find her number here,

The Yellow pages have gone yellow,

Still, her number should be there.

I don't know the breath I'm breathing,

It's a bit shorter than usual, I think,

Don't know this heart that is pumping,

I suspect it's about to sink.

I don't know this town that I'm leaving,

Still, why does it disavow me and disown?

The turnpike and neon lights are different,

I think I'm in a different town.

Daily life

 A friend sent this quote:

But what is daily life except whatsapp and more whatsapp? Therefore, whatsapp is enlightenment.

Longings

That you would come back

On the moonlit path,

And flesh the silhouette

Of my longings,

The moon waits quietly

In the sky.

Yesterday and today

Yesterday:

The scented breeze came first,

And the rains came later.

Today:

The rains ran out,

And the soft breeze came later.

Yesterday:

She came first,

And the tears came later.

Today:

The tears ran out,

And she came later.

Seek a way over troubled waters

Who knows who built that bridge and why.

Was there a stream that gushed below?

Why would anyone build

A bridge over shifting dunes?

A bridge over a road to nowhere?

Perhaps bridges are only monuments,

Like pyramids.

They connect no shores,

Nor seek a way over troubled waters.

Kochi Water Metro

Different Hues of the Water Metro

Getting Ready

Water Metro, Kochi steaming away:

Onwards to High Court Water Metro Station

First Glimpse of High Court Water Metro Station

Ephemeral shadow

There is a space

Between light and shade,

There is a time

Before love is eclipsed.

Some heed

When it's still love's penumbra,

Some let the eclipse engulf,

Still others are overwhelmed

By the ephemeral shadow.
