Parting has become a bit of a habit now.
That same intense pain and sorrow
When the first movers crossed over,
Is no longer there.
Two mates crossed over
To the other side yesterday.
The hurt has deadened a bit.
Some of our mates
Must be still be choking with intense grief.
Mine must be an utterly bad habit.
Should I get out of this bad habit?
And feel the pain again?

Only on the 9th June, the Indian Army's 64 Regular commissioning day, I sent a message to my coursemates thus:
Happy commissioning day, pongos*.
May you get decommissioned only at aakhri padrao.**
*pongos: Armymen, so-called in the Tri Services
**aakhri padao: The last stop, metaphorically, the cremation or burial spot.

Despite the more frequent parting of dear coursemates, the sadness and pain remain, especially if one happened to be a squadron mate or one of the close friends. May God bless our two brethren, who passed away yesterday.
Om Shanti Om sadgati! Dear Reds and Ace you will be remembered in our hearts and minds! Farewell till we meet again somewhere sometime…
May their dear departed souls get Sadgati. Om Shanti Om Shanti Om Shanti
Pain comes in waves....with each relived moment spent with our departed brethren....and steals your sleep.
Stay Safe Brothers !
Touching..
Our call too will come, in its turn..
With age, I guess , comes “Acceptance” too..so the pain of parting from your dear friends and close ones may deaden, but will always be there
Two big jolts shook us yesterday, making us realise the fragility of life! कब कौन और कैसे उठेगा, ये कोई नहीं जानता...as Rajesh Khanna said in Anand!
Feel so sad that our two bamboodoorians departed from our midst, yesterday
